Squat Max Calculator

Estimate your squat one-rep max from a near-failure set. Enter the weight and reps and this calculator runs Epley, Brzycki and Lombardi and averages them into one estimate, keeping your unit (lb or kg). A 315 lb squat for 5 reps estimates to roughly 355 lb; the spread between the three formulas shows how precise the number is. Brzycki is most accurate for 1–6 reps and Epley for 6–10, and Epley is dropped from the average at 1–2 reps because it reads about 3% high on a true single. On big lower-body lifts like the squat, high-rep sets can read a little optimistic, so a low-rep near-failure set gives the most reliable max. You also get a rep-max % training table — the load for 1–12 reps as a percentage of your squat 1RM — for percentage-based programming. This is a fitness estimate: reps must be near-failure and accuracy degrades above about 10 reps.

Why does my squat max look high from a high-rep set?

On big lower-body lifts, high-rep performance leans heavily on conditioning and pain tolerance, so the formulas can overestimate the true one-rep max above about 10 reps. Use a heavier, lower-rep set taken close to failure for a more accurate squat 1RM.
