About Reckonist

Reckonist is a growing library of free calculators for the decisions of everyday life — money, work, health, study and more — built to be accurate, transparent, and genuinely useful.

What we do

We turn the formulas behind real-world questions — “what’s my take-home pay?”, “what will this loan cost?”, “how much do I need to retire?” — into fast, accurate calculators anyone can use, for free, with no sign-up. Each tool shows not just an answer but the breakdown behind it, so you can see exactly how the number was reached.

How we keep figures trustworthy

For money, tax and health tools especially, accuracy is everything. Every calculator is built to:

  • Cite its sources — the rates, slabs and rules we use link back to the official source.
  • Show a last-updated date — so you know how current the figures are.
  • Be reviewed — calculations that carry real-world consequences are checked by a named, qualified reviewer.
  • Expose every assumption — defaults come from research, but you can adjust any parameter to match your exact case.

How we’re built

Reckonist is organised into colour-coded clusters (Career & HR, Finance, Health, Education and more), each with its own family of tools. We’re rolling tools out in waves — researching each one properly before it goes live rather than shipping shallow, unreliable pages. Where a tool isn’t ready yet, you’ll see an honest “coming soon”.

Independent and free

The calculators are free to use. We may show unobtrusive advertising or earn referral fees in future to keep the lights on, but that never changes the maths or the figures — the numbers are computed the same way for everyone.
