Free Invoice Generator (No Sign-Up)

A plain US invoice records the goods or services delivered, the amounts owed, and the payment terms — there is no federal mandate for a specific field set (unlike GST or VAT regimes), but a professionally formatted invoice with the right fields speeds up collection and protects you in a dispute. This generator produces a clean, PDF-ready US invoice: your business details, logo, line items with quantity and unit price, optional sales tax at the applicable state or local rate, payment terms and a note field. No login, no subscription, no data stored — the PDF is built and downloaded entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What should a US invoice include?

A standard US invoice should include: your business name and contact details; a unique invoice number for your records; the invoice date and a payment due date; the client's name and address; a line-by-line breakdown of goods or services with quantity, unit price and line total; a subtotal; any applicable sales tax (charged at the destination-state rate for taxable goods or services); and the invoice total. Adding payment terms (e.g. Net 30) and accepted payment methods reduces collection delays. There is no single federal requirement for invoice fields, but this set is widely recognised and sufficient for most B2B and freelance invoicing.

Do I need to charge sales tax on a US invoice?

It depends on the state, the type of goods or services, and your nexus (whether you have a taxable presence in the buyer's state). Most US states require sales tax on tangible personal property. Services are taxable in some states (e.g. New York, Texas) but exempt in others (e.g. California, Florida for most services). If you have nexus in the buyer's state and the sale is taxable, add the applicable state + local rate in the sales-tax field. If you are unsure, consult a sales-tax professional or your state's revenue department website.

Is the invoice generator really free with no sign-up?

Yes. The entire invoice is built and rendered in your browser as a PDF. No data is sent to a server, no account is created, and there is no paywall. You can generate as many invoices as you need — US plain invoice, GST invoice for India, VAT invoice for the UK, an estimate, a receipt, or a purchase order — all free.
